Christmas in Paris is magical. That’s the only word for it- and it’s all about the lights.  I don’t know why, but for me, seeing holiday lights start to appear, wherever you are, signals the true start to the holiday.  Paris does lots of things well, but this is something they really shine at- no pun intended! If you are in Paris in late November through New Year’s, you have to go two places- the Champs Elysees, and to Boulevard Haussmann where the “Grands Magasins” are (the Department Stores- Printemps, Galleries Lafayette). The stores choose a theme and all of their display windows follow that theme. When we were there it was a Mamma Mia theme with Abba music and dancing bears in the window- hilarious and incredible!
